Styling Secrets

Holiday Commandments

When going on holiday we become so excited that we have no control in what we buy or pack because really we are not thinking about anything else except lying on that beach in the 35 degrees sunshine.

So to help you eliminate those holiday disasters; follow my holiday commandments and you will never go wrong. Plan, Prepare and Pack.

Plan

Planning is the key to a successful holiday. Plan according to: -

  • holiday location
  • climate
  • number of days
  • time of year
  • national holidays
  • short trip or long haul

Prepare

Preparation is giving yourself the time to complete all the above. Allow yourself enough time to get through the list and do some research before taking off.

Keep in mind the luggage limit. Whether you’re a honeymooner or going on a city break always check your luggage weight and how many pieces of luggage are allowed on your ticket as each airline has their individual rules and regulations.

Lastly, double check with your local surgery regarding any medical precautions you need to take prior to your holiday, i.e. injections or taking malaria tablets. Also with the scare of swine flu spreading so fast this year do ensure the country you are visiting is a safe zone or you could be held in quarantine.

Pack

‘Just in case Syndrome’ is when you feel the need to pack everything. Please don’t confuse yourself. Pack your necessities, essentials and then your luxuries.

Necessities : - the must haves are items you cannot compromise on. For example: - sun block, sunglasses, hats, toiletries, and protection. I would recommend using separate compartments for your creams and lotions as it prevents any leaking or spillage.

Essentials : - defined as your making your holiday comfortable. For example: - walking shoes and flip flops, warm cardigan or shawl, non crease trousers or jeans, casual t-shirts or tops and indeed your make-up. Whether you are trekking through Himalayas or relaxing on the beach of the Maldives, there is no reason to take you knee-high suede boots with you.

Luxuries : - means complete and total indulgence. This is one piece of divineness you are allowed to take that gives you an orgasmic feeling. For example: - your accessories, bags, shoes, jewellery.

The idea is to minimize your luxury items and take as many necessities and essentials. Mix and match these to make outfits for each day and occasion.

Finally, keep it simple, comfortable and you will always begin your holiday with a complete mode of relaxation, leaving you looking amazing all the time.

7 Star Friendships

Friendship is the most important and integral quality in any human relationship. It is the foundation to a happy marriage, in-laws, colleagues, your boss or family, spouse or siblings.

Friends should enhance your life, educating you about yourself and life along the way. Particular friends will enter your life at certain times for certain matters, meanings, each teaching you and introducing to their views of the world. Some create new experiences, some encourage you, others are good listeners but they always want the best for you. These friendships are called “7 Star Burj-ul Arab Style Friendships”.

My friends are crazy and kind, creative and clever, old and young, every race, creed and colour and all contribute to making me a better human being. It’s my observation that you become the company you keep. So choose your friends that influence your life in a positive way. I chose qualities of integrity, inspiration and compassion!

My best friend is the most valorous human being I’ve met. He is a child entrepreneur, innovative and an unstoppable warrior. Hours go by laughing and listening to his business venture stories. I am so proud to have him as my best friend, his kind company and inspiring conversations teach me the gift of courage.

Friendship takes years to build and moments to destroy, hold on to precious friends, as they are the essence of a loving and fulfilled life. I am truly blessed with such super friends. I want to take the opportunity to say I appreciate you all and say thank you for sharing crazy moments of love and laughter that I will hold in my heart forever. May God bless each and everyone of you and make all your dreams come true.

“Good friends are like stars.... You don't always see them, but you know they are always there”

London Mela at Gunnersbury Park

This year London Mela saw over 100, 000 visitors and I was one of them. London Mela never really excited me as it’s always pouring down with rain. This year there were rays of sunshine so I came to experience the sights and sounds with my American and Canadian buddies who were Mela virgins.

Upon entering the Mela I was captivated by the smell of the desi cuisines; children enjoying the funfair and a vast range of stalls and stands, clothing to community information stands. A mixture of stages to suit all your musical taste buds, for example Indian classical, desi hip hop, desi bhangra, funky soul sounds to R’n’B. Not to mention the special appearance by Peter Andre.

Truly we had tooo much fun at the Mela. We danced in the middle of the crowd like teenagers and took pictures as if we were at a rock concert. Especially enjoying performances by Rishi Rich Productions, i.e. Mumzy Stranger and H-Dhami.

We ate glorious food, drank mango milkshake and finished off with kulfa ice cream. If you have never been to London Mela you should surely attend next year because you are just missing out on so much fun, it is a real fun day out for all friends and family.

Returning home we were stuck in a traffic jam, all I could hear playing in the sea of cars behind us was the song ‘Amplifier’ by Imran Khan.

London Mela was surely amplified in 2009! See you next year...

Jump Suit

It’s the 80’s revival and the jump suit is making a come back. Are you ready to jump into a jump suit? I hear your horror as you read this but don’t think that you have to be Lady Gaga to carry off the jump suit.

Recently in Grazia magazine featured celebrity jump suits. Kimberley Walsh from ‘Girls Aloud’ was seen supporting the jumpsuit at its best. On the hand we witness Katie Perry in a floral fashion disaster. Fashion should be worn to suit and your personality therefore followers of fashion firstly need to master their super star style in order to avoid these embarrassing mistakes.

So my one rule for wearing a jump suit? Keep It Simple! The jump suit is a work of art so do not complicate this outfit.

You may chose to accessorise your jump suit to give it a super star look. Remember keep it simple and graceful. I.e. a belt usually is the greatest way to enhance a jumpsuit and breaking up all-in-one.

I assure you that simplicity succeeds when wearing the jumpsuit. Worn correctly in the right style and fabric it can look chic and on trend.

Remember to protect your hair as well as your skin.

You can use protein spray on either dry or damp hair. Massage into the scalp and comb through, also acts as a great hair detangler. Moreover use the protein spray after colouring to prevent fading and damage.

The innovative Envirosheild Complex, exclusive to label.m; further protects hair against heat styling, sun and damaged hair.
